Buyers Guide - Body Plate

The body plate is sometimes referred to as the AVO plate and is riveted on the bonnet slam panel on the opposite side to the chassis plate. This plate is useful in identifying the original build specification of the car, as illustrated in the example below.

A - Escort

R - Right Hand Drive (L - Left Hand Drive)

T - Two Door Saloon

Y - RS2000

F - Manual

 

X - Cigar Lighter

T - Temperature Gauge

G - Radio*

R - Reversing Lights

Q - Hazard Warning Lights

B - Opening Rear Quarter Vents*

1 - Heated Rear Window and Alternator

5 - Brake Warning Light

4 - Pre-engaged Starter Motor

*Not all RS2000's had these fitted.

 

AT - Escort Two Door

PJ - Build Date (see table on chassis plate page for other build dates)

00365 - Individual Vehicle Number

Olympic - Colour (Olympic Blue in this example)
